The idea of flowering or blossoming made me think of parenting.

My philosophy of parenting: our job is to observe our kids, where they excel, what they need to work on, and use that knowledge and our life experience to guide them into becoming the people they are meant to be. Not who we think they should be.

At nearly 6, my kid is becoming more of his own person. His personality, ideas and art are shining through a lot more, which I guess helps make up for the attitude. At this age the things we say and the example we set start to have a very big impact.

I had that in mind for this painting, so I found a collage image of a girl around his age and painted over it, allowing just enough of her face to shine through.
